Sofar Sounds has released the full recording of Rob's performance in 2010:

An impromptu performance by Robert Pattinson at a past London 'Songs From a Room' secret living room gig. One of the many 'Sofarsounds' events that showcase new artists and give musicians a chance to be heard in an intimate setting. Sofarsounds have recently launched their 'Kickstarter' donations appeal to give fans a unique way of supporting new artists and become part of their international movement.

It wasn't just for show!.. swoon ;)

From Vanity Fair:

“When we first started, none of us knew that Robert really does play piano,” says Ben Jaffe, the tuba player (center, above), the band’s director, and the son of the venue’s founders. “But when he got up there, he started ticking out these notes, and it was obvious he wasn’t just tinkling—he really knew how to play.”

We've also added a bit of Preservation Hall's band performing to get you in the spirit, plus a bit of history on the place.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

The April issue of Vanity Fair hits newstands nationwide March 8th.

Just like most of us, Rob used his time off to go shopping this holiday weekend. And of course he headed straight to Norman's Rare Guitars in LA. The store posted a picture on its Facebook page and added a few more details of Rob's purchase on twitter.

Rob is a regular customer at the store, and it's nice to see he had some time to unwind before heading back to Baton Rouge to resume filming Breaking Dawn.

Rob's sister Lizzy was on the BBC's Three Counties Radio show Friday. And one of the songs she performed live was 'Hands,' which she co-wrote with Rob. Listen to it here (at about 49:25). She performs another tune at about 24:20 and also talks about her band. You can find out more about Lizzy's gigs by checking her out on MySpace. You can also follow her latest dates on twitter. Get out to see her if you can!

Pattinson_Music LJ had the chance to interview the people behind Sofar Sounds recently. They mentioned how it was actually Rob's idea to be part of the gig that night:

Lastly, if you don’t mind, I’d like to inquire a bit about Robert Pattinson’s performance on behalf of our community. Did he volunteer to play? Can you describe his performance style, his musical style for us?

He sure did. He was in the audience and clearly enjoying the music. Halfway through the gig he asked if we would mind if he played. As there were 5 other acts pre booked to play we said ‘sure!’ but that it would have to be at the end of the night. He was nervous –Rob said it had been about a year since he had played live and hoped he remembered what to do. He was very down to earth and shy about it. It was getting late once he grabbed the guitar and walked to the ‘stage’ (the front of a private home in north london) – so we agreed he’d play one song. He has a very rich and soulful style – sweet-sad lyrics – a sound not unlike his friends Marcus Foster and Bobby Long.

We’ve been so patient waiting for him to perform and your clip gave us so much hope! Do you plan on releasing the full song he performed? And can you see him returning for another performance?

We will definitely release the full clip of his performance in the coming months. Just arranging when a good time to do so (watch this space: www.sofarsounds.com). And as he truly enjoyed playing Songs From A Room (and played well), I’m pretty certain he’ll be back.
