Crossing the Blues

The Water for Elephants movie tie-in edition is now on sale in the U.S. - Order your copy or get it at your nearest bookstore. And don't forget a second trailer is on the way this week!

We first heard about Rob's Vanity Fair interview from CNN last week, and now here's a look at the cover. The issue goes on sale Thursday. As for the 60 minutes in the background, that is what the teaser is actually about - a new poll and its results. Lucky for us, it also gave us a sneak peek at Rob's bayou look.

Now in HQ (click for larger image)

We also got a glimpse of what's inside..

And this is the feedback from the (lucky) journalist who go to interview him

The interview, like always.. is the best part. Rob talks all of his projects and much more! - Read it at Vanity Fair or below.

Again, the issue hits stands in New York and LA March 3rd. The rest of the U.S. gets it on March 8th. You can also buy it online.

The Breaking Dawn production should have no problem finding snow for the recent scenes they've been filming. There's plenty of it to go around. But the snow is not everyone's cup of tea.

We showed you the first picture of Rob filming in BC last week, and now there's a few more. Edward looks perfectly comfortable in the snow, and is that Christian Camargo (Eleazar Denali) in the last picture?

Today we also got a better look at some of the stunts being planned at Bella's House. Newsflic shot some video you may want to check out.

And Summit confirmed that New Moon director Chris Weitz has joined twitter. And it didn't take long before he tweeted a message to fans. Welcome to twitter Chris!

UPDATE/ Ryan Seacrest just announced a new bit of information regarding the Twilight surprise during the Oscars:

"Just talked to one of the Oscar producers, that rumor that we've been hearing about.. I just confirmed a huge Twilight musical moment on tonight's show. They say it's act seven, so I think that's about halfway through the show. If you're a Twilight fan, you'll want to see that in the actual Oscar telecast".

Ryan added he's 'Team Wolf' btw..

Here's the clip

Seems these days everyone is talking Rob. The mentions add up quickly, so we've wrapped the latest round in one handy post beginning with the woman who gave Rob his big break in Hollywood. Catherine Hardwicke gave new details about casting Rob, when she talked to Newsweek while promoting her new film Red Riding Hood:

For Twilight, Hardwicke had trouble finding an actor otherworldly enough to play vampire Edward Cullen. Then she got a call about a guy in London. “I looked at a couple pictures and was like, ‘I’m not sure,’?” Hardwicke says. “He had been fired from his last job, he was unemployed, he was in debt.” Pattinson flew to Los Angeles on his own dime to read with Stewart. “I have footage of their first meeting at my dining-room table,” Hardwicke says. “Kristen was like, ‘It’s got to be Rob!’ She felt connected to him from the first moment. That electricity, or love at first sight, or whatever it is.” Hardwicke gave him the part, but he had to make a promise. “You’ve got to realize that Kristen is 17 years old,” she told him. “She’s underage. You’ve got to focus, dude, or you’re going to be arrested. I made him swear on a stack of Bibles.”

She goes on to mention that legendary bed where Rob auditioned with Kristen. Read the rest at Newsweek.

Red Riding Hood's Shiloh Fernandez lost the part of Edward to Rob. He's also been talking about that experience, most recently with Interview magazine:

JACOBS: How close were you to getting the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight?

FERNANDEZ: You’ll have to ask Catherine. It appears that I was closer than I maybe remember. I did have a screen test and signed contracts and all that. But the thing that came out of it, whether I was second runner-up or not, was that Catherine and I liked each other, and she was gracious enough to keep me in mind for other things. I really don’t know how close I was to getting the part in Twilight. Did I want the part? I did. But I don’t think I was right or ready for it. And I don’t think anybody knew that it was going to be what it’s turned out to be. When Riding Hood came along, I thought it was a much better fit.

JACOBS: Is it strange to consider Robert Pattinson’s life? How that madness could have been yours?

FERNANDEZ: I don’t think it ever could have been mine. I think it would have been really, really bad for me. He seems like a really neat guy who’s handled himself amazingly well. I’m very grateful at this point that I didn’t get it. I remember when my agent called to tell me I didn’t get it. And then the next day I had an audition for something else. [laughs] When it came out, I was doing a movie with Ashley Greene, who’s in Twilight, and we went to the movies and watched it. It is a funny experience but I can’t say that it was one of the movies I was heartbroken over not getting.

Finally, it seems these days the memo to TV writers is out: mention Twilight, Rob, or both.. and you're sure to get a larger audience.

Good luck everyone!

With a production start date just a few months away, it looks like Cosmopolis producers are getting a jump start on promotion. The official film site has now been updated with the latest information, and it is showing off a new look. See for yourself and then like their page on Facebook.

The film has been gaining buzz with the addition of actors Juliette Binoche and Mathieu Amalric. They will join Rob in the project, that was the topic of a well written article by Death and Taxes magazine:

With that in mind, is it possible for Robert Pattinson to pull of a character that can so easily descend into caricature?

My guess is that he could possibly pull off Packer’s icy, intellectual arrogance, as well as the threads of emotion running underneath the character’s veneer. Perhaps Pattinson was who Cronenberg needed to greenlight “Cosmopolis,” although I have a hard time believing Cronenberg would crumble to studio pressure on casting.

Whatever the case, the field of actors at the appropriate age is limited. Who wants to see James Franco in another project, and Ryan Gosling is too obvious a choice for this role. The fact that Juliette Binoche and Mathieu Amalric have been cast will surely help raise Pattinson’s game.

If anyone can make Pattinson into Packer, it will be Cronenberg.

Leave it to E! Online to get the scoop on the love-making scenes between Bella and Edward, courtesy of Jackson Rathbone:

"It's a PG-13 movie, but also it is what it is and it's a union," Rathbone said. "They are consummating their relationship and they don't just do it once, let's put it that way."

There was also talk about Rob, Kristen and.. bacon? - read the rest at E! Online.

Jackson was not the only one talking sex in Breaking Dawn. Apparently Peter wants a piece of the action.. but says he might need a little help.

Summit also confirmed a new cast member today. Actor JD Pardo has been cast as Nahuel. Read more over at Twilight Lexicon.

And with filming underway in Vancouver and the surrounding areas, today Newsflic gave us a preview of the stunts being planned for Bella's house. Check out the rest at her site.

Of course the big story this week was the first picture of Rob on the snowy set of Breaking Dawn. And MTV's The Seven made sure to spread the word.

That's the latest!

While we (very impatiently) wait for Rob's interview and cover to come out in April's issue of Vanity Fair next Thursday, its Italian counterpart has shared a bit of their experience interviewing Rob in LA last week.

Thanks to Thinking of Rob for the translation.

“I don’t know why but all Robert Pattinson interviews start with a description on how he is dressed. My interview, however, has not yet been written: it will be ready in Italy when his new movie is released, the one after “Twilight”. I mean ” Water for Elephants”; probably in May. But what I do know is that I will do something different, I won’t say anything about how he was dressed.

I also know that in Pattinson’s case, even the smallest details can’t be ignored, as millions of women worldwide, from 9 years old, would sacrifice more than a broken a nail just to get their hands on the smallest piece of information on him. Therefore here’s a detailed account of Pattinson’s look. The location: a second floor suite at the Four Seasons hotel in Los Angeles. The time: 3:30 in the afternoon and although it is not his first interview of the day, it seems like he just got out of bed.

Finally he arrives: He pours himself a cup of coffee, “I need to wake up”, he apologizes. And, indeed, he has the sleepy face, but his eyes are incredibly clear. Then he sits down and puts his feet near the coffee table in front of the chair. He’s wearing a pair of black jeans, quite narrow at the bottom, he moves back on bended knees exposing bare skin between his short socks (which are also black) and the edge of his trousers. He has white skin and dark hair that is sparse. Oh his feet: a pair of Dr. Martens, ça va sans dire, black. His outfit is completed with a T-shirt and a jacket that I would say are vintage. The hair on his neck is shaved, with a little bit visible at the front , his skin is clear and smooth. And his lips: I swear, the reddest I’ve ever seen on a man…”

We can't wait to read the rest!

While Rob was busy working North of Vancouver the first part of the week, filming focused on the wolves today.

And while they may have been in the woods first, according to Mandysmind.. filming will soon move to Jacob's home. Check out her latest pictures and report. She also found a different set that might be used on the Bella training scenes.

There's also more new vamps on the way..

It seems like Bella is reuniting with Charlie soon. Actor Billy Burke says he'll be back in Vancouver next week. He talked to the press while promoting his new film Drive Angry. And he gave plenty of Breaking Dawn scoop.

That's what we have for now!

A new article by NPR takes a look at the ins and outs of searching for just the right props for a particular film, and they mention the attention to detail paid during recent Water for Elephants reshoots:

One of the Elyeas' clients is Hope Parrish, who's working on the film Water for Elephants and wants to know where she can find diaper pins from the 1940s. (Down an aisle, second shelf, lower left.)

She also wants a toy bear, but Jim Elyea explains that the one she's looking at isn't what she needs.

"That's the '50s snout," he tells her.

It's not simple geekery that drives Elyea's attention to detail.

"Most people learn their history from movies and TV, without debating whether that's a good or bad idea," Elyea says. "So we feel it's our obligation that we portray the physical world as accurately as possible."

Parrish, diaper pins chosen, leaves her order at History for Hire and hurries off to find other props elsewhere. It's all for additional shooting on Water for Elephants — principal photography wrapped last summer.

We can safely assume these scenes were the ones the props were used in. Cue the collective aww..

UPDATE 2/25: Summit confirmed that no Twilight cast will attend the Oscars, but producer Bruce Cohen told Ryan Seacrest twilighters may still want to tune in..

With just a few days to go until the Oscars, we still don't have official confirmation on whether Rob will be there. E! Online did some asking and came up with a bit of an update:

Sources close to Rob tell us that there is a "slight chance" he will be here in Los Angeles to present at the Oscars with his Water for Elephants costar Reese Witherspoon.

Filming can be so unpredictable that unless it's 100 percent, an announcement won't be made.

A source close to Rob tells us that conversations are taking place to "see if it will happen."

MTV seems to be keeping its fingers crossed that Rob will walk that red carpet again.. we are pulling for you Joshua Horowitz ;)

One thing is for sure.. there will be Twilight at the Oscars, according to producer Bruce Cohen:

"Hey folks, if you are a Twilight fan . . . For all of you Twi-Hards out there, we have a little surprise for you in our show on Sunday night . . . if you like those three films, I have three words for you: watch the Oscars."

See the video here (at about 2:00).

Rob's Water for Elephants costar, Reese Witherspoon has been confirmed as a presenter - so we're still holding out hope that he makes it. But whatever happens, just seeing Rob's name sandwiched between the 2010 Oscar winners on IMDb still makes us smile..

This new Water for Elephants TV commercial has some quick scenes we hadn't seen, see if you can spot them! - It comes days after news broke of a red carpet premiere in Germany April 27th. Promo time is here!

UPDATE (2/24): According to the Water for Elephants official FB page, the second trailer is coming next week!

As if news of Rob's new Vanity Fair photoshoot doesn't have you counting down the minutes until next Thursday, now comes word of a new Water for Elephants trailer via director Francis Lawrence!

The Projection List has a possible timeline

Here's the first one. What do you think will be in the second trailer?.. We love promo time!

CNN's Andrea Mineo, has confirmed that Rob's spread (and now we know cover and interview too) will be on the April issue of Vanity Fair. The issue hits stands March 3rd. You may remember Rob reportedly did the photoshoot in Louisiana a few weeks ago. Safe to assume it's in connection to Water for Elephants promotion that will likely kick into high gear next Tuesday, with the release of the book's movie-tie in edition. The film opens in the U.S. April 22nd.

Rob's past photoshoots for the magazine are some of our favorites. Take a look back at the links below and start planning your run to the store next Thursday!
