The novel is apparently being sold with the film's official still as cover (in this case in Italy). Don't think this is the official movie tie-in cover, but nice either way!

20th Century Fox posted this statement on the official Water for Elephants Facebook page today.
Entire official statement sent to the press:
“Fox is compelled to point out that this video was NOT taken during the training for, or production of, our film, and neither Tai nor any other animal performer in the film was harmed in any way during the making of this film. In fact, the organization circulating this video claims it was taken in 2005, which was at least five years before the movie went into production and at least a year before the book on which the movie is based was even published. Moreover, a representative from the American Humane Association was on set and monitored every instance in which animals were used and can confirm that no animals, including Tai, were mistreated in any way," the statement concludes.
Animals Defenders International released the disturbing video that prompted the response from Fox. You can see it at their site. The longer version with quotes from experts is also now available.
During the filming of Water for Elephants, the American Humane Association closely monitored the shoot, to make sure no animals were harmed during production. You can read their statement here.
Late this afternoon, Have Trunk Will Travel (Tai's trainers) issued their response to the video. What they had to say, at waterforelephantsfilm.com.
We will keep you posted as new information comes in.

While Rob mentioned a bit of what could be delaying the release of Bel Ami during his interview with MTV, he went into details when he talked to Total Film:
"We were really true to the book and because the guy is basically a shit who wins everything at the end it’s really difficult to market it – especially with me in it"
You can read the rest, including how Rob felt about playing "a shit" over at Total Film. indieWIRE suggests producers may have to go the festival route to market Bel Ami:
Buzz around the pic has been quiet but maybe producers will trot it out to the festival circuit in the fall to see how it plays before deciding how to get it out there? We’ll have to see how it all plays out, but that’s what we’d do.
We'll keep you posted!
Thanks to WFEFilm for the indieWIRE tip.

USA Today has a great new interview with Rob, where he talks about getting knocked down by a horse on the Water for Elephants set:
"It was just one split second but (it was) a fully grown stallion...I'm kind of relatively scared of horses as well. I'm just glad I didn't have to ride any of them. I'm not particularly good at horse riding."
He also gives new details about that Breaking Dawn scene:
"She has to have this pregnant suit on all the time, that was probably more annoying for her"
Read the entire thing.. and it's goood, over at USA Today.
Hollywood Life had a chance to chat with Rob's new costar in Cosmopolis Paul Giamatti. And he's already a big fan of Rob:
“He’s great! Absolutely love the guy!”
Giamatti also talked about the plot. Check it out at Hollywood Life. Filming is set to begin at the end of May in Toronto.
While talking to MTV last week, Rob confirmed that Samantha Morton is also attached to the film, but didn't give up the name of his leading lady. Guess we'll just have to wait for official word.

We all know these muscles well. Now two men that helped Rob get fit for the Twilight films and Water for Elephants, have shared details of his workout routine. First up, Harley Pasternak's chat with Hollywood Life:
Harley adds that Rob “specifically looks at fitness as part of his job” but says “he’s an easy client to work with and when he commits and focuses he’s just… super committed.”
On his personality: “He’s just a very sweet, unassuming guy who came to train with us, I’d never heard of him before…to see how big it became… it was the craziest thing. I went to meet with him in NYC and he had multiple security guards because there were people just swarming him. He’s someone that’s not built for this crazy celebrity status, he’s a very low-key guy who likes doing low-key things. He’s a very simple, low-key guy.”
Read the excellent article that includes more on Rob's favorite workout routines, and answers to fan-submitted questions at Hollywood Life.
Vancouver trainer Nathan Mallalieu also got a chance to work with Rob. He spoke exclusively to MTV, about the kind of energy Rob brought to the workouts. Starts at about :45 - right after they do the puppet theater version of Rob's call-in interview with Ryan Seacrest.
