Variety confirms (4/12) that Kevin Durand is "in talks" to join the project. They add that he would play the role of Eric's security officer (we're assuming they mean bodyguard). More details at Variety's blog.

It looks like Rob has gained three new costars. The official Cosmopolis site has added Kevin Durand, Emily Hampshire, and Patricia Mckenzie to the cast. This comes a day after we heard that Jay Baruchel is also joining the film. Look for updates from Toronto once production gets going next month!

Deadline New York is reporting that She's Out of My League's Jay Baruchel has joined the cast of Cosmopolis:

Baruchel plays the shy guy who founded the company, and who acts as the trader's conscience.

A bit more from Movie Web:

Jay Baruchel will play the timid founder of a financial firm that Packer works at, who also acts as Packer's conscience.

Read more at Deadline New York.

The film will begin filming in Toronto next month.

After much speculation, The Playlist  is reporting that the role of of Elise (Eric Packer's wife) in Cosmopolis will be played by Sarah Gadon:

Known in Canada for the television series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?,” Gadon currently stars on the CBC drama, “The Border.” More importantly she has already worked with Cronenberg landing a smaller role in the filmmaker’s already-shot “A Dangerous Method” where she plays Emma Jung, Carl Jung’s wife. That picture stars Michael Fassbender, Viggo Mortensen, Keira Knightley and Vincent Cassel.

Gadon will be playing the role of Pattinson’s estranged wife Elise Shifrin.

The Hollywood Reporter adds a few more key details, including where they will film in Toronto and who will handle film distribution in Italy and Canada:

Cosmopolis is set to shoot in west Toronto at Cinespace’s Kipling studio facility.

Entertainment One will release Cosmopolis in Canada, while RAI Cinema SpA will distribute in Italy.

Rob confirmed that Samantha Morton was attached to Cosmopolis, and today we learned that she'll play Vija Kinski according to the official Cosmopolis site. Production is scheduled to begin at the end of May.

Cosmopolis producer Paulo Branco confirmed to Screen Daily that Juliette Binoche is now part of the cast:

He [Branco] also said that there was now a confirmed shooting date for David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis (sold by Kinology but produced by Branco) of May 24. Paul Giamatti and Juliette Binoche have also joined the cast.

Binoche seems like a good match for this unique film and Rob. Clap Filmes confirms she will be playing the role of Didi Fancher. They also have a link to what looks like the official site for the film, currently under construction.

According to PattinsonStewC7nema is reporting that Mathieu Amalric has joined the cast as well. Composer Howard Shore who's worked with Cronenberg in the past, is reportedly also attached - and slashfilm guesses he's not the only one coming back:

The site further announces, via production company Alfama Films, that Howard Shore will score the film and Peter Suschitzky will shoot it. Both of those men have worked with David Cronenberg constantly (Peter Suschitzky has shot all the director’s features since Dead Ringers; Howard Shore has scored all his features since The Brood, with the exception of The Dead Zone) and it would be more remarkable if they were not on board. But it’s great to know they’re back — I’d guess that Carol Spier will work as production designer and Denise Cronenberg will be the costumer, too.

As of now filming is set to begin May 24 in Toronto, and at some point move to New York. C7nema adds that filming will last for nine weeks.

News is moving fast on Rob's next project, and we'll be here to bring you the very latest! - in the meantime you may want to freshen up on Cronenberg's work in a great Cosmopolis preview by Indiemoviesonline.

According to upandcomers.net, Keira Knightley will not costar with Rob in Cosmopolis:

Keira Knightley will not be appearing in David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis”, the actress’s reps confirmed to us today. Knightley’s name was brought into the casting conversation following some eagle-eyed fans seeing her name listed alongside star Robert Pattinson’s on the production company’s website. When the internet exploded with the news, her name was quickly removed and her reps declined to comment on her involvement until today, with a solid “she’s not in it”.

Read the rest at their site. Production is set to begin in late May in Toronto, so we'd imagine the rush is on to cast the lucky actress who will work with Rob in David Cronenberg's project.

Stay tuned..

It's been an exciting week as cameras get ready to roll on the last two installments of the Twilight series. With filming set to begin in Louisiana in a few weeks, today Summit confirmed who has been cast as the Denali Coven in Breaking Dawn. The Hollywood Reporter has a bit more. The official word comes after Entertainment Weekly broke the news on who will be playing Edward and Bella's child in the movie. All we care about is that this is the vamp who has the hots for Edward.. meet Tanya.

On the Bel Ami front, one of the movie's fan blogs got Protagonist Pictures to admit that they still don't have a distribution deal for the U.S. plus a few other facts. Check their post for the rest of the scoop. We'll stay on top of Rob's projects for you!
