The interview with Radio Times magazine seems familiar, but there are several new quotes from Rob in there ;)

via Robsessed.

During his interview with MTV, Rob said he would be interested in becoming a superhero on screen, but refused to say which one he might consider:

"I shouldn't even say this stuff, 'cause all the little fanboys will be like, 'No! I'm gonna shoot him!'" he laughed.

Now Deadline could have the answer, only Rob wouldn't really be the good guy in Akira:

There are two major roles, and I'm told that for Tetsuo, Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield and James McAvoy have been given the new script. For the role of Kaneda, the script has been given to Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake and Joaquin Phoenix. The two leads are expected to come from that group of actors.

Deadline has more on the storyline, and some interesting thoughts on who is probably not gonna end up with the lead roles. Read the rest at their site. HitFix adds its two cents, and reports the film could start production in August.

Moviehole has always been very supportive of Rob, and added this little side note for "fanboys" in their article:

Deadline says the lead is expected to come from that group, so not a lot of competition there… good chance Pattinson will end up in the movie. Just accept it.

So could you see Rob as 'Tetsuo?' here's more on the character according to Wikipedia:

Tetsuo Shima (島 鉄雄, Shima Tetsuo?)

Kaneda's best friend, a member of Kaneda's gang, and eventually Kaneda's nemesis. He is involved in an accident at the very beginning of the story, which causes him to display immense psychic powers. He is soon recruited by the Colonel and given the designation #41. However, Tetsuo's mental instability increases with the manifestation of his powers, which ultimately drives him insane and shatters his friendship with Kaneda. Later in the story he becomes Akira's second-in-command, before he begins to lose control of his powers. Tetsuo is the main antagonist (and possible anti-hero) of Akira. Tetsuo is named after a Tetsujin 28 character, Professor Shikishima's son, Tetsuo Shikishima.

Check out the trailer for the animated version of Akira, to kinda see what we're in for if Rob takes/gets the role. The Guardian adds a few more details about the potential plot, Slashfilm shares where it thinks the plot will go, and Collider gives some great background on the main players. Guess it's time to freshen up on our knowledge of Manga.. because it looks like we may need it!

(3/18) Rob debunked this rumor during his interview with MTV.

UPDATE 3/17: MTV promises to ask Rob about this rumor during their live interview tomorrow. So the answer is on the way!

It's only a rumor or "talk" for now, but what if..

And yes, with David Slade given the job, there’s "some kind of talk" about Robert Pattinson – who, with the "Twilight" series winding up, is going to be looking for a new well-paying gig – playing the part of Matt Murdock - which, I have to say, I don’t dislike the idea of.

Read the rest at Comic Universe and where the rumor started over at Moviehole. You may remember Ben Affleck brought the role of the blind superhero to life in 2003.

We kinda like this little rumor.. even if that's how it stays.

Tom's Waiting for Forever premiered last night in LA, and several journalists got a chance to talk to him including Gabrielle Compolongo. Tom had this to say, when asked if he would ever work with Rob on a film:

Read the rest of the interview with Tom at Reel Movie News. Also check out Gabrielle's interview with Rob for Collider, during the Remember Me promo tour last year.

Tom also busts a rumor about how he ended up getting the Waiting for Forever script (not through Rob!)
Watch it at Screenslam or below.. at about 1:00.

They are part of Total Film's article on book adaptations hitting the big screen this year. All Rob, all the time!

Here's a little wrap on Rob's different projects. We begin with Water for Elephants, which keeps getting acknowledged as one of the films you don't want to miss in 2011.

CNN's Tom Charity:

The truth is, you hope for pleasant surprises, but you pin your trust in the filmmakers who have impressed you in the past. This year, there may be dozens of terrific films coming down the pipeline, but these are the 10 prospects that really float my boat.

“I Am Legend” director Francis Lawrence aims to capture the magic in Sara Gruen’s best-seller about a traveling circus. Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson put on the show, while Richard (“Fisher King”) LaGravenese wrote the script that convinced “Inglourious Basterds” discovery Christoph Waltz that this was a better way to go than David Cronenberg’s next picture.

Kind of ironic that Rob will be working with Cronenberg in Cosmopolis no?.. Hollywood Dailies talked about it, after the news broke earlier this week.

The Guardian mentioned the news as well (below), and here's everything you'll want to know about the role.

There was also plenty of news on the Twilight front. Starting with word that Carter Burwell will return to handle the score for Breaking Dawn:

Burwell has an existing relationship with the director of the final two parts, Bill Condon, having collaborated on “Kinsey” and “Gods And Monsters”
Now can we hope that Rob will also be back to play the piano?.. our guess is no, but we can wish.

Forbes named Rob and Kristen as one of Hollywood's top-grossing on-screen couples. They come in at #5:

While romance might take a backseat to action in many of the movies on our list, it's the driving force in the Twilight films. It doesn't hurt that Pattinson and Stewart are also a couple in real life. So far the movies have earned $1.8 billion at the global box office. The last book, Breaking Dawn, has been divided into two movies. The first will hit theaters this coming November

Finally, we know you can never get tired of seeing this..

You get your chance to relive the hotness from Italy as New Moon premieres on Showtime this weekend. Best part?.. it's free! - plus we hear Peter and Kellan show up in some promotional clips.

Enjoy the weekend!

Per Deadline.com:

Robert Pattinson has booked his first major lead for when he completes The Twilight Saga. Pattinson will star in Cosmopolis, the Don DeLillo novel adaptation that David Cronenberg wrote and will direct.

Read the exclusive details on what the role is all about at Deadline New York's site. And even more juicy scoop at E! - here's a preview:

"He has sex with two women, his art consultant and a bodyguard," reads a review in Publisher's Weekly. "He is hit in the face with a pie by a protester. He knows he is being stalked, and the novel stages a final convergence between the ex-tycoon and his stalker."
Ready for more? Hollywood Life claims it got a hold of the script and is sharing the scoop. Click here only if you don't mind being spoiled!

Reuters is reporting the film could start filming in mid-May in Toronto.

It's shaping up to be an amazing year for Rob!

We had a few updates in the last 24 hours on two of Rob's most anticipated projects. First up, Breaking Dawn and what we can expect to see on the big screen. Summit released the synopsis of the films at the American Film Market in LA this week. Read it over at Collider.com.

While there, Collider's Steve Weintraub got the chance to view the Bel Ami clip presented to potential buyers and media at the Cannes Film Festival  last May. These were his thoughts on the video via twitter:

Was just shown a 3 min promo for BEL AMI. Robert Pattinson fans will love seeing him make out with Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci, and others

No idea when the promo is getting released or even if it is getting released. I was shown the promo the studio showed buyers at Cannes.

Thought the footage looked really good and I think rob is underrated as an actor. But almost any editor can make a promo look good.

Also...I might have been wrong about the time of the promo. Might have been closer to 4 or 5 minutes. He sleeps around a lot in BEL AMI.
There is still no official word on a release date for Bel Ami.

* A few other noteworthy reminders:

The Bad Mother's Handbook DVD is now available in Australia, and you can now purchase How to Be in Japan.

Finally, we've stayed away from reporting details on Rob and Kristen's trip to Brazil because it's simply not easy to confirm what is accurate information and what is not. But Alt Film Guide has a good breakdown of the latest rumors flying around in case you want to be in the loop. Of course once filming moves to Brazil, we'll update you as information comes in.

While doing rumor control, Gossip Cop stumbled on a very valuable piece of info regarding Rob's projects post-Breaking Dawn.. meaning as early as mid-2011. They reached out to his camp and this is what they got:

A source close to Pattinson tells Gossip Cop that while nothing is announced, the actor has “a lot” of roles that he is “considering” for after Breaking Dawn.
"A lot" sounds great to us, and while we love his role as Edward.. we can't wait to hear what Rob will throw himself into next!

Taking a cue from Gossip Cop, MTV's Hollywood Crush confirmed that rumors of Rob turning down a record deal from Simon Cowell are not true:

when MTV News reached out to Robert's management for comment, we were told there was no truth to this story. It's just "another headline generated by the internet," his manager wrote in an email.
